The Initiators

Abubakarr Bangura is the founder of Migration and Development Consultancy. He holds a Masters in Education from the Fontys University of Applied Science in Tilburg, The Netherlands. Mr Bangura is a consultant and former lecturer operating on the interfaces of Sierra Leone / The Netherlands; education / employability / entrepreneurship; and circular migration / development. As such he is well-informed of current issues and emerging trends in the economic development, trade and investment flows between both countries. Mr Bangura is a living bridge between Sierra Leone and The Netherlands. He has contributed tangibly to the empowerment and prosperity of the African diaspora in The Netherlands. Back home in Sierra Leone he makes educational projects happen that turn ambitious youths into the entrepreneurs that the country needs.

He has extensively worked on questions of employment creation in post-conflict countries.  He is involved in several entrepreneurship trajectories (on social entrepreneurship, on artist entrepreneurship, and on migrant entrepreneurs as franchise takers of Dutch SME companies).
Gerd Junne has cooperated with the African Diaspora Policy Centre from its very start and developed training programmes for African civil servants in the ministries that are responsible for maintaining contacts with migrants and migrant organizations. He has decades of experience in off-line and online education and started to provide international distance learning programmes long before e-learning programmes became wide-spread.
